Industrial Gaskets Supplier in India – Choose the Best Gasket Materials for Your Needs

What should you look for in gasket materials? The correct industrial gaskets, depending on your needs, are made of many different materials. Each material has its own strengths and weaknesses, so it’s important to know what makes each material better than the rest in certain situations. In this article, we’ll cover the most common gasket materials and discuss their respective pros and cons so that you can find the best materials for your industrial gaskets application.

Different Types of Gaskets

Non-Asbestos Sheet Material Gasket

Asbestos-free materials are considered the most reliable choice for all sealing flanges and are used in a variety of applications. As the name suggests, asbestos-free sheet material gaskets are cut from sheet materials that do not contain asbestos. Since the 1980s, non-asbestos gasket materials have replaced asbestos as the industry standard. Aramid, fiberglass, mineral fibers, carbon and graphite are often substituted for asbestos.

Ring Type Joint Gasket

The O-Ring Joint Gasket, also known as an RTJ Gasket, is a precision machined metal Gasket. RTJ seals are widely used in refinery, petrochemical and oilfield drilling applications with a design that fits into a grooved chamber on the face of the flange.

Kammprofile Gasket

Kammprofile gaskets, also known as Kamprofile, Camprofile or Grooved gaskets, are gaskets with a metal core bonded to a soft filler material on both sides. After installing one of these gaskets, a soft non-metallic filler is inserted into the metal core of the knurling. Graphite or PTFE is the most commonly used non-metallic filler in these seals. These seals are an excellent choice in high pressure, high temperature environments and are suitable for use in highly corrosive fluid connections.

Spiral Wound Gasket with an Inner Ring

Spiral wound gaskets are categorized as semi-metallic and are typically used in high pressure applications. This type of gasket is often chosen because it offers good recovery tolerance for irregularities in the flange finish. The sealing effect of this type of gasket is due to the flow of metals and soft fillers when the gasket is compressed. Spiral wound inner ring seals are suitable for applications that are subject to extreme temperatures, shocks, vibrations or pressure cycles.

Rubber Sheet Material Gaskets

This type of gasket is stamped or cut to shape from industrially manufactured rubber bands made from industrially manufactured rubber. Rubber sheet gaskets offer excellent durability and conformability and are an ideal sealing material, but offer limited temperature resistance.
